@promethiac2641 What?

@runeh3022 The countries founding principles such as "all men being created equal under god" is intrinsically religious. Just because its not a theocratic country doesn't mean it wasn't founded on religious principles. And the separation of church and state is mentioned no where in the bill of rights or constitution. 90% of the founding fathers where Christian. And people can still run for governments based on religious talking points and people are allowed to vote for them.

@runeh3022 The IDEAL government would me a completely moral government, and morals cant exist without religion. So ideally there would be no point in separating the two. It was always legal to run as an atheist in America, you just wouldn't get any votes, which is fine because the point is that its not illegal, not that people would vote for you. A government without SOME sort of religious foundations will usually devolve into a totalitarian state since there would then be nothing greater than the state. History has shown this as well.

@runeh3022 It is quite literally the foundation of good morals since without religion no ones morals mean anything. You'd just have everyone having their own subjective morality, none of which being any more "moral" than any other. Something greater than people has to be the moral arbiter. And most of Europe is is also founded on religious principles. Most of the nations that are the result of the expansion of great Britain is are at least partially based around Christian morals since that's what the brits believed. So the US, canada, Australia, basically all of the UK.

@runeh3022 How people decide to personally follow those morals vs the actual objective morals that exist is different. Religion can have the perfect moral system but that doesn't mean people will follow it perfectly. Morals being based around empathy is not only incorrect but would be AWFUL, since an action being moral is irrelevant to if it can be empathized with or not. People can have empathy for some of the most immoral acts imaginable AND empathy is not universal or objective either. States having laws on the books is different than those laws being actually enforced. There are all kinds of wacky laws that are on the books that aren't enforced.

@runeh3022 You really cant say that "religions can also have the most evil moral system imaginable" since without religion you dont have a gauge to decide whats evil or not. It may not be favorable to you but immoral not so much. Following these religions or not is a choice but not an example of subjective morality. They know that not following is wrong but they choose not to anyway, so they would just be choosing evil, not calling into question the whole system. Well being also isn't exactly moral, since the well being of someone that does harm is not moral. Survival alone also isnt a good metric. I promise you there is literally no real world metric you can use to objectively decide if something is moral or not. People have tried for centuries and it is truly and logically not possible.

@runeh3022 If morality isn't tied to religion then tell me why is literally anything you do moral/immoral as opposed to anything else? You have yet to provide me with anything that gives a secular explanation to morality. Religion can claim to be objective morality whether you believe it or not. But secularism can NEVER even begin claim to have morality because it doesn't base its morality on anything objective. It would just be random individuals decisions. It's a misunderstanding of god to blame him for all the negative that happens in the world. If good things only happened to good people and bad things always happened to bad people that's not morality at that point, you don't have a choice. Morality can only exist if you have a choice not to be moral.

@toren9120 There is evil, you know it and you are born knowing it. And just because people in the past did evil does not mean they didnt know it was evil.
