You've got it backwards, the car centric design isn't what makes the distances longer, the long distances are what created the car centric city design. Most US states are much to rural for any kind of public transport system to be viable.

@SomeInfamousGuy It doesn't make sense that the density of of city's population and long distances can effect its design ?

@SomeInfamousGuy ummm no US cities where not bulldozed to simply build the infrastructure for roads. That makes no sense... First because the US doesn't even have the population density to fill in all the land that it has so there isn't even much to bulldoze and secondly any small amount of land needed to be paved for roads wouldn't even interfere with a city any way. If anything roads and highways into city's what be BENEFICIAL for the cities.

@SomeInfamousGuy Im saying that one of the main factors that influence city design in America are the vast distances between locations compared to other ,smaller, countries .

the only reason the current system takes so long is because The us is trying to be forced into being a single nation when it was never really intended to be like that in the first place, thus the whole reason why there are 50 different states. If each state was able to do its own thing without interference from the federal government changes would naturally be alot faster.

most states in the US are WAYYY to rural for any kind of public transport system to be viable, only in big city's do those work.
