Thats what happens when he government subsidizes health care. Prices rise.

@surfingbrrrd I promise you it would NOT save the average person money, the cost would just spill over into other aspects of American life. No such thing as free and money doesn't just APPEAR, it HAS to come from somewhere.

@MrYhuggybear If you stop subsidizing it and made the industry less restrictive naturally prices WOULD come down over time. There's never an instant quick easy solution and trying to find one only leads to problems.

Maybe people should stop expecting the government to solve all their problems. Its kinda the whole reason we have these problems in the first place.

@TheDivineCalls333 Cover it sure, while also making it MORE expensive thus reducing total amount of money people have thus making everything more expensive. Governments getting paid is what happens when people cede so much agency to governments. When you give such an institution so much power then yeah obviously people are going to leverage that power for themselves. But people are too lazy and just want the government to fix all their problems for them. 45k a yeah in the 70s was so much more money accounting for inflation. And quite frankly the "boomers" people are always complaining about just made better decisions monetarily than the consumeristic people of today, on top of having lower quality products during those times. People now days are paying for all these high quality things we have currently that didn't exist back then.

@TheDivineCalls333 it deleted my previous reply. Long story short, taxes could pay for it and doing so would make it more expensive along with everything else because money doesn't come from nothing.

@duncan8437 health care in Sweden and Norway is not as good as the US and the countries have less people and they are healthier in general. The countries just aren't comparable.
1
@Bryan-zh6kd That's called price fixing which is not only illegal but would lead to even worse outcomes than we have now. Not a good idea.
1
@jimbob28642 Oh no, they just took the money from you and gave it to them.

@solido888 Because America subsidizes the health care for the entire world. The only reason other countries can even think about universal health care is because the United States funds the research and development cost for new drugs and procedures out of pocket and other countries don't invest any where NEAR as much. As for the life expectancy is a completely different issue that has nothing to do with healthcare. In the US you are free to do almost whatever you want concerning your own health since it's not nationalized, so other people don't have to pay for YOUR bad health practices. Things like over eating, not exercising, eating unhealthy foods, is something Americans are allowed to do more of so they are on average less healthy. But this is a choice, a choice other countries don't have.
1
@solido888 other countries don't pay them, they just get the drugs reverse engineer them and make their own.
1
@solido888 Yes that is what freedom means. The ability to make choices for yourself whether they are good or bad for you. More freedom of care means that you can either get really good or really bad health care, compared to those other countries whose standard of care is average compared to the US. Right is the middle not the best but not the worst. Why do you think people come to the US to have some of the most complex surgery's done? If you can pay for it we have the HIGHEST quality of health care in the world.
1
@solido888 If you have the money and the right insurance you can make more choices. A universal health care model would reduce the quality of care for literally everyone, and because of how inefficient the government is, it would just end up making it more expensive overall. So you'd get lower quality health care that is MORE expensive. The expenses would just come out of your taxes. It's basic economics. What you'd want is LESS government interference in health care, not more. The government and its regulations are why health care is so expensive right now in the first place.
1
@solido888 No the data does not refute this, it says nothing about the QUALITY of care, only that more people will have access to it. For more people to have access to medical care than they already do you are GOING to have to increase prices SOME WHERE along that chain. Also no, very few country's health care systems have quality that scales with the amount of money you put in. Their quality is degraded because it has to universally serve such a large number of people.
1
@solido888 Those 2 things don't contradict, higher quality naturally cost more AND over regulation raises prices as well. High quality and over regulation don't conflict. And yes the health care QUALITY in the US is the best unless you for some reason are including the total coverage a countries health care system has into the statistic for some reason, which would be weird when we are talking about quality and not quantity. Or are using a polling at which is irrelevent.
1
@solido888 I mean when you have yet to refute anything Ive said otherwise yes I very much can just say it's the best.
1
@solido888 You haven't even sited any data and I don't even mean posting a link. You haven't even stateed a single statistic, youve made no counter claims. Literally all you've done is say "no this is wrong". Just the equivalent of a "nuh uh".
