@TheLuxGirl2077 Don't project your racism on the Dutch. Wilders is half Indo, Yesilgöz is a Turkish Kurd from birth, Omtzigt's wife is Turkish and one of Van der Plas parents is foreign too. Wilders party has been the biggest or 2nd biggest among the Surinamese in NL for over a decade. Dutch "right wing" parties don't have to do tokenism, they have natural presence of well integrated people with an immigration background. It is the left parties that have to drag in some colour and opt for those who put their immigration background on the foreground.

No, the Moroccans born from guest workers had a marriage arranged with their cousin in Morocco so a bigger part of the family could get access to Dutch welfare too.

On the matter of extremism, it's not just about government. The Animal Party could be seen as pretty extreme, and so could the SGP (the christian fundamentalists) and in the past we've had communists, anarchists and a quite radical farmer's party. Most of them have shown to be a valuable contribution to debates and often the outcome and laws from their position despite not having much power.

@sperzieb00n No, there has been a lot wrong with the housing policy of the 'centre right' but the Dutch population is not growing and the shortage of housing is about equal to the net influx of immigrants in the past 10 years. The government has been artificially increasing demand for housing, without organizing supply. Same for doctors, teachers, infrastructure, grid and elektricity, water, recreational spaces, police, whatever.

Supply of housing is limited by nature, demand for housing in the Netherlands is infinite when government keeps splashing residency permits around. It's not the governments job to serve foreigners interest in living here, that goes against the constitution and the 'democratische rechtsstaat'.

@Teutathis Northern is not a word that can be spoken strictly culturally, contrary to Scandinavian or Western. I believe the Netherlands is Western-Europe or North-Western Europe but not Northern Europe. I don't agree either. I don't feel close to Scandinavian at all. Of course there are similarities, but those are there with Poland and France too.

It's a very open system by design. The beauty of it is that the voters and candidates have decided to make it not really a thing, but they could if they wanted to. Just like the voters and the candidates have made political parties into a thing, the systam allows for that but doesn't force it upon the voters.

The economy doing good for you is so very 1990s. GDP means that a lot of money can made off the Netherlands. It's not even GDP per capital. We have got a lot of foreign workers making profits for foreign shareholders using Dutch tax payers infrastructure and services to get Dutch tax breaks.

@odril A phobia is an irrational fear, this is about a completely reasonable and rational worry. The Dutch are the least xenophobic people in the world. There is no issue with strangers, what people seem to not understand or refuse to acknowledge is that immigration is not about foreigners being present, but a continuous inlfux of foreigners, year in year out making any problem with them greater by the week.

@MartinMenge No, it isn't. Belang means interest, stake, importance. Belangrijk, "rich in interest" means important. Belangstelling means taking an interest, being interested, mostly as in curious. Has nothing to do with belonging.

What people fail to understand is that the so called centre right or centre left is economically far right, the Netherlands and the Dutch people to be exploited by the international corporatocracy, including mass immigration and using the Dutch people's welcoming and tolerant nature to burden them to the max. Great for GDP but not for GDP per capita, great for profits of foreign corporations with foreign shareholders employing foreigners in the Netherlands, while the Dutch employees have seen their tax and social security cost raised from 35 to 40% of their salary while paying much, much more for housing, energy, health care and groceries. Small and mid sized entrepreneurs and companies struggling, big corporations enjoying tax havens. Explain to me how that was not right wing.

@arjanzweers6542 They have been made 'impossible' to govern with because the federal EU and the mass immigration have to go on. These matters have to be outside the debate and should not be decided on by the voter, not in general elections, not in referenda, they just keep on happening while the parties debate about 0.3% more spending power for a certain group. That's a problem with any system, just like nothing will change with Wall Street in the US because both parties agree that Wall Street should be left alone.

@mangoberry2 It's more that Flemish is the common language for and from several different Flemish dialects like Dutch is the common language for and from the Northern dialects. But because it's common, it's almost the same, because they are fed from different area's and the North and the South have been seperated for 450 years, the accent is quite different and the vocabulary and epressions might suddenly differ.

@puraLusa The subsidiarity principle is that the EU only makes rules for what cannot be done nationally. But that is of course levels above your insights into the EU, the less people know and understand, the more they like the EU. Give them a ballot to put in a container and they believe it's democracy, worked for cargo cults too. Then you tell them what to do because they like to be submissive.

Then he proceeds to go into the history of anti immigration sentiment. What about the anti immigration rationale? There is much pro immigration sentiment and no reason. It's not an example of a pillared hospital, that's BS and also not a product of the 70's or 80's like the claim in the video. A pillared muslim hospital would mean that muslim would start a hospital, empoly muslim doctors and nurses to treat muslimpatients, allmost all of them in the area. Of course the Dutch muslim community can't build or found anything useful themselves. Their schools are a mess, their broadcaster went down on corruption, they abused the Labour party to start their own political party, their clubs are a mess, no way they get near enough muslim doctors and nurses to care for the excessive medical needs of the muslim community.

Most benefits of the EU are not benefits of the EU at all but benefits of the EEC, like free trade, that have been appropriated by the EU to force their unelected political agenda with. The only reason member state citizens might be optimistic about the EU is because the European journalists don't do their jobs but have become EU propagandists, and public survey companies can no longer be trusted either. No, I'm not optimistic. It's becoming a straight up antidemocratic power grabber that's rotten to the core, morally and financially corrupt, with a disregard for it's ordinary citizens.

The radical demographic change of the Netherlands was never openly chosen for, it has been sneaked through under the guise of 'refugees', the higher education in English, which is against the law actually, and so called 'skilled migrants' and lately Ukrainian refugees. The people never wanted that and never chose for that, the realized the only way to change that was to vote Wilders because the VVD is a bunch of liars who broke up the government over immigration for another attempt to win the elections with a false anti-immigration promise.

The other form of immigration, motivated by strictly personal circumstances like falling in love with a Dutch person or do that one unique job there, is no problem to anybody. It would if there was xenophobia. You flip the question around. Why would we be in favour of mass immigration? It increases profits for banks, real estate sharks and the international corporatocracy, I understand that. But what's in it for us other than more crime and unsafety, unaffordable housing, shortage of doctors and teachers, sharply declining education levels, power outages, overcrowded traffic and basically everthing? Opporunities to "practice our English" with people who speak it far worse?

@odril No it isn't, contrary to islamophobia xenophobia does exist, it's just extremely rare in the Netherlands. A xenophobic would fear or shy away from interacting with a stranger because of unknown habits or something, that's completely different from the real threat of many strangers continuing to come in and stay strangers and change the place you live negatively. Not the least bit of xenophobia is required to be opposed to that.

The EU has a migration policy? How so, the EU doesn't have any land? The migration pact shows why this can't work, they are proud to have reached an agreement after 7 years. 7 years of in which millions of 'irregular' migrants arrived, a much higher cost per person than 20.000 euros. Also the member states don't have a responsibility to accept foreigners at all. The fact that the EU wants African and Middle Eastern immigrants does not make it a responsibility.

European countries were hit hard by an American created credit crisis, European countries were hit by an Americacreated refugee crisis, European countries were hit by a joined Europe-USA organized energy crisis. Then there are the shortsighted destructive policies of the EU. That costs an awful lot of money while the ECB has printed about tens of thousand euro's per inhabitant to keep the Italian banks on life support at the expense of inflation. So the net salary is low compared to the pre tax salary, and currency the salary is in has lost lots of value.

No, the EU holds free trade hostage to force it's political agenda of the unelected onto it's member states. The value of the EU is in it blocking free trade with neighbouring states when you're not in it. The EU itself does not offer benefit, it can only take away.

They are not as easily propagandized by traditional media, they learned in school that they as Germans have a German government but they see it serving non Germans more than them. They are young so they go to places where they see the cultural enrichment for themselves, they are not looking forward sharing their entire future with them and their children. This is not their "sentiment", it's a rational analysis, shared by the BSW voters making almost half of the vote anti mass immigration. The progressive left gets the sentimental voters.

No, Indonesians don't speak Dutch because the Dutch ruled the Indonesian seas and not the people until the very late 19th century, the Dutch learned their language(s) and that way helping the establishment of a common Indonesian language.

@55rz55 It's a general description of the situation but even on Java there was very little direct rule by the Dutch until the very late 19th century. You could make the case that it was actually a worse form of colonization for the colonized people and the Dutch changed it for the sake of the people, but it is the main explanation why the Indonesians don't speak Dutch.

@55rz55 This was about Indonesia and not Java. Indonesia did not exist as a country but we use it to name this group islands. So until the very late 19th century the Dutch ruling their seas, the Indonesian seas, actually describes the situation those islands were in effectively and concise without getting into the details of different little pieces of Indonesia with more Dutch control.

Nonsense, government has appropriated the private not for profit social housing of the Netherlands. There is no immigration system, it's an asylum system abused to make them Dutch citizens. The rule of law has also been violated systemically and tax pressure for employees has increased from 35% to 40% while these million immigrants were supposed to be good for "the economy". GDP has increased for sure, GDP per capita not so much and we are paying more for the infrastructure, services and help these immigrants appear to need.

But VVD and D66 are neoliberal, that is the economic extreme right, about squeezing out citizens to the max to increase international corporate profits. Mass immigration is part of that. The PVV is very much and pretty far to the left of that. They are much more old fashioned conservative capitalists. Mass immigration is and has always been a right wing desire.

There were some academics claiming this, based on a research that was still in progress but they felt the need to talk about their findings prematurely, without anybody being able to read the study. Of course the media jumped on this without questioning it's prematurity and questionable methodology.

@xiniks That claim didn't have the false scientific pretences but was anecdotal to begin with and did not include any numbers. The interesting thing is that this had to be debunked asap, the researchers couldn't wait until the study was finished and published so it could be reviewed. The created an extra control group after the elections, which suprisingly had a lot of North Africans and Middle Easterners that didn't identify as muslims. What we do know is that the PVV was already the biggest or 2nd biggest party among the Surinamese in previous elections.

Maybe these advanced, morally superior, enlightened, open minded, cosmopolitan shoud stop making life worse for the people they are supposed to represent? It would help if they would face the fact that the mass immigration is a continuous process, if you keep the immigration policy the same the country keeps changing, if you want to keep the country the same you have to change immigration policiy. They should also admit to the fact that the bulk of the immigrants are a pain in the ass. Education levels, welfare and social housing, crime and safety, misogyny, social cohesion, it is a burden on top of the burden of the Walloons having to be payed for. It is not even about kicking out immigrants, it's about stopping ever more immigrants to not just form a new burden, but also frustrating the integration of the immigrants already present, making sure they will stay a burden.

We also know him for 20 years, by now we know there is a reasonable man without hate for people behind all the tough talk. The immigration issue is even older, one politician got murdered for that in 2002. Because it's not a 3rd world country but a country people want to come too. If we build houses we build roads with cycle lanes, elektricity, schools, parks and doctor's offices too. We already are extremely efficient with space and we are not going to make our country ugly to house foreigners. Dutch government should serve the Dutch, infinite international demand to live in the Netherlands should not be the Dutch government's concern.

@Mightydoggo There is value in having an open society and economy so you don't have to predict and weight each individual's contribution precisely. But the point is that the Dutch government is purely there for the Dutch people and not for any other people. A government that denies have a well defined people to serve is not serving people at all, but will serve themselves and corporate interests and that is exactly what happened and what has been voted out through voting for the PVV and 2 other anti-establishment parties. Half of the seats in parliament are now for what was described a couple of years ago as 'not participating Netherlands', the Dutch that didn't trust politics and didn't vote or voted for parties on the fringes. The implicit meaning of that classification was that people who didn't go along with politics on the cm3 among the poltical establishment weren't taking part in democracy, people who voted for change therefore were considered not participating in democracy. They do know.

That's because it was still the idea, at leat publicly, that a supranational organization wouldn't want to do anything against the will of a democratically elected government. Because if it does, it's a dictatorship. Opening your borders and treating another nation's citizens, companies, capital, products and criminals as their own is the most far reaching relationship a nation, a state, a nation state can have to another one. I can't say that relationship feels natural in case of Georgians and Albanians. It isn't, it would be just another influx of cheap labour after the Poles and already other Eastern-Europeans are getting too expensive.
