  2. I think if you know very little about the rest of the world after finishing school, there is no structure, no order to connect new information too. If I learn about some new country, either because it has become independent or is some small Island nation, that information fals on a grid of knowledge, it hooks on. Without any pre-existing structure it would be much more difficult to remember.
