A busy walking and cycling city with fresh snow is lovely for the sounds alone. The snow absorbs all the noise and it's a lovely kind of quiet that makes you feel like you can understand conversations 200 meters away, and when there is also ice skating on the canals it's even more wonder winterland. Cycling in the snow is really not that difficult, it is slippery but doesn't take you buy surprise. Black ice and frozen up snow are a different matter though, that could seriously slow you down. Cycling in sunny Amsterdam would be fun to react too, lots of improvisations, negotiating and quite a few different vehicles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqQSwQLDIK8

Bridges tend to have steep inclines there.

3 years ago, and in 2018, and 2014 or 13. About every 3-4 years just like in the 20th century. People believe they can see climate change everywhere suddenly, they can't.

@LeafHuntress 4 years longer than the 2nd longest of 22 years, while the ice has to hold tenths of thousands of spectators now and wind and snow are important too, not just the cold. Cold periods have shortened by only 2-3% max since the first one. Your observation on skating on the canals was already wrong. The issue is that people want to see climate change in the weather and make up false memories to do so. Climate change is a matter of science, the idea that you could and have to experience climate change yourself and sea it around is fundamentally wrong and antiscientific.

@automation7295 Espcially Amsterdam has a lot of small bridges you have to speed up a noticeable bit to get over and than an equally sharp decline before a corner where you have negative canter.
