  1. I saw a YT video about 3 athletically gifted British guys getting trained in a couple of days by the Frysians to break the British record. They got reminded to give up on time and just jump into the water instead of landing on the wrong spot. Most farm fields are surrounded by ditches with water in the Netherlands because it's very wet land, especially in Fryslan. So to cross them a big stick can indeed be helpful.
