But the English looked in England for an English recipe and found one so that must be the first. That is was a pie with a whole lot of other stuff in it and very little apple doesn't matter of course. Britain first!

The British being British again, they looked into British recipes and found one of a pie with apple and a lot more stuff in it, the Swedish and Dutch versions were acknowledged but that those were much more apple pie as we know it today not and colonists to America were Dutch and Swedish too. The sandwich already existed for centuries before some English dude discovered it and arrogantly gave it his own name. The chocolate press and bars are a Dutch invention. Doughnuts is a nonsense claim too, as they didn't find nor investigate when the Dutch made them first, only that when the Dutch brought them to America the English had also been introduced to them. Cinema and photography are French inventions. Submarine was also a Dutch invention by Cornelis Drebbel in 1620. I'm sure French, German and Italian people can name a few more things the British stole from others than the Dutch. The British are no better than the Americans in taking credit for things they copied themselves.

@ No, but if you have to ignore the Dutch and Swedish presence in the 17th century North-America and all the other fruits and ingredients in the English recipe we know it's most likely not from England.
