The video makes a fair point, but it's the history of automotive engineering. For the most part we have engineers making flawed concepts work very well by putting many hours into it by thousands of great engineers, including the Otto motor itself. On the other hand we have the brilliant engineers that come up with the great concepts, to which the hours put in and experience with is where it's flaws come from.
So it's a combined effort of progress by the millimeter at the time, done by many, vs the breakthroughs by the small minority with huge steps. I believe we should cherish that minority, for their brilliance, for their thinking outside the box, for a possible trickle down effect and for yet to discover advantages in combination with other tech they might have, and even for the mirror they hold up to the rest of the automotive engineers. That goes beyond boutique quality. I agree with not getting our hopes up too high, but let's celebrate the total rethinking, the out of the box, the people starting with a blank paper again to get to the optimal concept.
