  1. I believe Mr. Petter was so fed up with the aircraft Industry and government he left the industry and became a monk . And l also thought the reason the Whirlwind failed was Rolls Royce stopped production on the Peregrine by order to concentrate on the PV12 . The Merlin . In it's time it was faster than the Spitfire Mk 1 and with it's 4 20mm cannon and 2 250lb bombs it was a potent machine . Thanks Ed.
