Personally I did, I thought he was very unifying and I'm sure European union will go from strength to strength with or without us. I hope they use our misfortune as a wake up call that they need to listen to concerns from member countries, and that it makes them stronger to deal with the problems at source in the future rather than in a reactionary way when it is too late. A just, well performing society will not give the extreme right a platform. My fellow countrymen still seem to be clinging to the deluded belief that it is better to be isolated and alone, and we really are scraping the bottom of the barrel now in terms of who gets listened too as we seem to slip almost unchallenged into our blinkered delusion. Give it ten years, when the idiots realise that they will not be able to recreate the 1950's again and I'm sure we will be begging to come back, but this time it would be without the concessions and deals that we had negotiated. My remaining hope is that May's incompetent Tory gov will mess up so badly, that the entire mess we are in will implode on itself in the next 6 months. Given the past performance of this bunch of shysters and charlatans, it's a distinct possibility.

Extreme politics only rears it's ugly head from dissatisfaction. The dissatisfaction in this country is attributable to Tory policy. Having lived through the social destruction caused by Thatcher, personally I don't think the self serving UK gov can be trusted to govern uncontrolled as politics today is all about spin and short term gain with no strategy. A high level degree of control of flash in the pan party politics is only good IMO. Nobody is against free speech, but if the north had not been left to rot, there would not be so much extreme dissent. The world is a different place, with major problems of overpopulation, and while I would agree that the EU is protectionist, selfishly I think it is protectionist with the bit of the world that I want to be associated with. Not the unregulated human rights and standards disaster of the majority of the rest of the world. China/India/USA don't give a flying fuck about you and they will shaft the UK backwards if it helps their agenda. And watcha going to trade? The majority of high tech industry and manufacturing in this country is inextricably linked to the global companies thanks to the Tories selling off everything that wasn't bolted down.Exploiting the Empire is not an option any more so you really will be trying to stand on your own two feet. Anyway, good luck, but I think you've fucked it.
