The UK has been a convenient route into the EU for a lot of American business interests and that already appears to be coming to an end. America is a great country but it faces massive issues just like any country does, mostly of their own making.  What stops you from emigrating?

  11. Direct democracy is a dangerous tool especially if used with as little skill as the EU ref was. Unfortunately, human self interest will always come to the fore with short term self interest on most peoples minds. Indirect democracy is little better but at least sort of works however first past the post has it's issues (as does PR). Yet to see a democratic system that is totally fair.Anyway, back to the EU referendum, the fact that nobody has the faintest idea what is happening a year later proves that no one could have had an idea what they were voting for at the time. Question was too simple, majority wasn't large enough, there was no clear plan for the two options given. Shit from start to finish and has caused turmoil and chaos. Goodness knows what it has cost already. A bad days work for democracy!

  16. ***** Over a fairly hefty time period,  and became one of the largest economies in the world, hence able to pay a bit more. Not entirely down to EU, granted, also helped a bit by various Tory govs selling and encouraging us to sell everything and the kitchen sink, whilst racking up the debt. Still, if you look at the EU related jobs that have been created or maintained especially in the vehicle and aviation sectors, it makes you wonder where we had have been had we carried on like we where in the late 60's/70's with manufacturing on the point of collapse and the economy down the pan. Rich/poor divide - Not all the fault of Europe, mostly self inflicted UK gov policy decisions, and it will not improve if we end up becoming some kind of low tax haven for multinationals, not renowned for sharing the dough out..

Since then he has screwed tax payers money in order to not turn up in the European Parliament. He is rich, privileged and not a member of the working class. He is also disingenuous. He has also whipped up the morons and screwed the country over so not only is he elite, he is a grade A twat.(In my opinion.)

I entirely think that you are about to completely screw the economy, and public money from taxation will fall making the situation worse for public coffers. Having  ever never claimed anything from the welfare state (there was a knee op about 20 years ago) and having paid tax for nearly 40 years both personally and as an employer/business, I am more concerned about what you are about to do to the poorer members of society who do have to rely on benefits/tax credits etc. as well as our poor Public Services that are already operating on a shoestring. (Have also worked in local government and further ed at various times in the past so I know how shit life is there)

  28. It was the worst thought out question to be put before the public in those simplistic terms that I have ever heard of. Just to settle a Tory whim, an act of vanity and stupidity. Our links to Europe are founded in history and  having spent the past 40-50 years cementing those bonds, to think that we can end that (comparatively) overnight are just nonsense. The Tories have done nothing in 2 1/2 years and have shown themselves to be the most incompetent, bullying, timewasting Gov in history. It was undeliverable from the first moment it popped into Camoron (or his advisors) pea for a brain. IMO
