Anyone who is not an epidemiologist has to either go on what they say or they are making up bs, doctors are not scientists and have absolutely no business telling us about issues like this based on their medical degree. And the epidemiologists all say (in science terms) shit has hit the fan like it's never hit the fan before at least not since the black death. Privately they are probably generally much more worried than they admit publicly.

  6. It's never going to peak, it would have to run through the whole population for that. The financial system has to burn and go back to command economy for a while and confiscate homes and property from banks and default on all debt and start over once the crisis is done if we will ever recover but they obviously don't want the poor bankers to lose out on a chance to make a grab for even more of the nation's wealth.

  8. There is no reason to think there are carriers, exactly. So no reason to think there are all these 'hidden' people who have it. At least not who have it and have virtually no symptoms. I know at least 4 people who have it, and none of them are calling it mild even though only one is in the hospital. The epidemiology for every disease is the same, we don't know if there are magically millions of asymptomatic or immune people but the death rate for spanish flu was far less and it killed up to 200 million people (a number they now downplay to 'only' 50 million lol). Considering how many lives are at stake those would be incredibly foolish assumptions to make and we should assume the worst and do all that's possible to constrain it until we can find some good treatments (and actually manufacture them).
