  1. The Welsh were actually the remnants of the Romans and walled off wales from the rest of the isles. When you realize this then many unusual things about the founding of america related to looking for welsh settlements and seeing so many welsh symbols (which are also roman symbols) start to make some kind of sense. So something like a 'welsh' civilization that came to america, lasted a few centuries then either got wiped out in a cataclysm or just collapsed on its own as ours seems to be doing, ultimately with only the natives left when the english returned later aside from maybe a few holdouts. That is essentially what the natives said about the anasazi and there is much talk from explorers about very large stone buildings occupied by the natives. Others also talked about the welsh coming to america. Plus they were often able to figure out how to talk to them which seems unlikely with extremely different languages. Just one theory but it is the only one where these buildings have a relatively recent origin that makes any sense.If you look at frontenac castle and the block at san francisco, you see them on maps hundreds of years before they are supposed to exist and long before it would make any sense from a modern colonial sense.
