Worse one was the dckhead eric lengyel who killed off C4 game engine, but instead of open sourcing it he just rebranded it and tried to charge all the 'lifetime' license users brand new fee. That is why I made my own engine eventually. Not exactly Unreal engine but surprising what can be achieved by one person.
