  1. I think the mean IQ of college students has dropped since the 1950s is because colleges are far less selective now. You had to be pretty smart to get into your average university mid 20th century.

  3. Yes, smart and knowledgeable are somewhat correlated, but the value is probably low....as in, if you have a naturally high fluid intelligence, you will likely acquire more knowledge since it is easier for you to do so.
