Well, the big difference between Taiwan vs Vietnam/Afghanistan is that Vietnam and Afghanistan had indigenous forces that were actively seeking to expell the USA and had contiguous land borders with continental Asia where fresh supplies could be smuggled in and troops could regroup. In this case, the populatuon of Taiwan would be 100% opposed to the Chinese occupation and would actively see to expel the Chinese.

  13. A lot of hillbillies are dumber than a bag of rocks, so a stint in the military would not lead directly to law school for most of them. Most of them are good people, nonetheless.
