Well, with AI, we will solve that problem, maybe be able to delete memories or eliminate the sense of boredom or find ways to remain stimulated eternally...

I also think there will be a transition period between the onset of full automation and virtual reality world which mimic "reality" with hi fidelity. In the beginning, we will still be engaged with the world as it is, so we will try to find ways to stay busy beyond going out to eat. People will engage in "playking", that is hobbies which can be very engrossing for their participants and long lasting, like hunting for Pokemans in exotic places, participating in full scale reenactments of Roman battles, breeding the perfect orchid, making world class pastries, collaborating with AI to compose symponies, flash mobbing in exotic places and so on and so forth...

I think most people in most professions share that sentiment.

They will be fudged
2
@DaveShap Hope so. I am slated to be 82 by then.
2
Wouldnt the real world limited supplies of basic commodities place constraints on economic growth?
2
@FintechFatherAI Well, that paradigm will be broken. You 2ill simply reap the harvest as AI will do everything

In the meantime, skilled nurses can perform that duty.

I understand your argument about jurisprudence in regards to granting licenses to humans to perform jobs like truck drivers, plumbers, electricians, etc. Industry will simply argue that the adroid substitute meets and exceeds standards set out for humans. If, through careful analysis the licensing agencies agree, then the green light will be given for AI to replace humans.
1
Close to zero. I think the only work force we will have will be a few humans who make sure the machines are doing our bidding.
1
Sadly, they are not.

it's either UBI or mass starvation and a complete collapse of the economy.
1
@getinthespace7715 That's old school thinking

Well, I think that if AI can properly diagnose your condition, it would be a simple matter of finding a physician who would agree with the AI and be willing to pursue a course of treatment. To date, we cannot bypass physicians for certain medical prescriptions and most definetly cannot perform surgery without them.

Umm, yeah, people will still die. People will still need to eat, have transportation, medical care, entertainment, etc. However, the general premise is that these industries will not necessarily be staffed by humans who derive incomes from them.
1
@7200darkcharm They will, eventually.
1
@DownunderGraham If you had a land bridge connecting your country to Indonesia, your country would be flooded with low wage workers.

I think a deep dive is needed into how the robot tax will be implemented. You make a great point about spending. One of the constraints on economic growth is uncertainty. If people are ear marking so much of their income for a rainy day fund or retirement, then that is money not getting spent in the economy. Maybe recessions and depressions will go away forever since people won't curtail spending out of fear of losing their jobs.
1
Nothing, really. I think your role will be to make sure that the machines are making correct diagnostics and incisions in the beginning.
1
I will be 62 in 2030. I would be OK with the notion of "-freezing" at that age, biologically, for a decade or so until age reversing treatments came available.
1
So, a UBI is not communism. It is just the government mediating the new economic relationship between citizens and capital. It needs to be implemented as an intermediate step.
1
So, the biggest hurdle to housing are those pesky zoning laws
