@sheenaghmcmahon9665 Not true. Britain got by far the greatest amount but wasted it. Germany used her share to address the immediate needs for infrastructure reconstruction such as bridges, public buildings etc.

@edwinholcombe2741 Not precisely. USA defacto declared war on Germany when France and Britain did. Roosevelt ordered the US navy to fire on German naval vessels while theUSA was still officially neutral.

@pradeepswaminathan3993 Why don't you inquire into the number of Soviet troops killed by their rear-guard police battalions? These were required to stop Soviet soldiers from retreating or surrendering.

@woodenseagull1899 Bullshit!

@sheenaghmcmahon9665 Rubbish! Britain got the most, next France I think and Italy.

@IIIIMARLONIIII Kindly read the books The Chief Culprit and Icebreaker. In a nutshell: The Soviet Union was ready to invade Germany and western Europe. Germany simply struck preemptively to stop this and almost succeeded in spite of the tremendous advantage of men and material of the allies.

Many many Poles travelled to Germany on their own for work and standard of living, which was much better in Germany. These people went VOLUNTARILY.

@tellyonthewall8751 Day time bombing was by Americans.

@sassycat6487 NO! The Marshall Plan funds speeded things up a little.

@mikeohagan2206 Read up on "Judea Declares War on Germany" in 1933 already!

@kassiopaia1514 I am not a friend of wiki on controversial subjects. The Marshall Plan was a USA effort to stop the spreading of communism. Italy and France had/have definite communist leanings. For similar reasons Germany was permitted to re-arm so as to form a bulwark against communism. You gotta love the Yanks, first they make common cause with the communists to destroy Germany, then they figure they need the Germans to keep the communists at bay. Why do you think they did this??? Because all wars are bankers' wars.

@edwinholcombe2741 Not true. USA declare defacto war when France and Britain did.

@QuickSilverGirl-82 The Marshall Plan had money available for Britain (which got the largest portion), France, Germany, and perhaps some others. Britain wasted their portion on private works & compensation. Germany spent the funds to SPEED UP the reconstruction of infrastructure such as bridges, roads, railway, power plants, factories ie. areas of benefit to everyone.

Actually, steel telegraph lines were also used by the allies in western Germany after the war.

@daleburrell6273 The president of Czechia, Emil Hache, travelled to Berlin with his daughter to ask the German government to protect his country against invasion by the communist Soviet Union. News reels of that time showed happy people to get that protection.

@Тёмный_Механик I don't think so. Agreed that many Soviet prisoners died in German camps; but the blame for this lies mostly with your hero Stalin.
