  3. +Oyunun Dibi Very few people ever bring up the flight models, which to me at least is the fundamental core of any flying game/sim. Check out DCS World with the Flaming Cliffs 3 add-on, the F-15C and Su-27 Flanker flight models are incredible!

  4. Sam Arcade Have fun, and remember that the flight models are detailed enough that it helps if you have rudder pedals. You don't absolutely need them, but they're pretty much a must if you want to take off and land in any of the three propeller-driven planes :) There's also a Spitfire coming along for DCS World, it'll be cool to have a true high-fidelity sim of that aircraft that includes combat.

  7. Hhhhuhuhuhuhuh... Hhhhuhuhuhuh.. Uuuuuhhh, hey Beavis... He said 'Birds of Steel'! Seriously, DCS World has always been #1, Il-2 1946 is #2, Cliffs of Dover gets honorable mention, and the rest are kinda just there :) DCS World has been an incredibly detailed sim since the mid-eighties or even earlier, yes it HAS been around that long. It required an uber expensive rig to run on, but they were available. It looked and flew almost as good back then as it does today. Numerous bugs have been ironed out, but's been THE kickass combat flight simulation for thirty years and development continues to this day. Today, an inexpensive ordinary old PC with a midrange (~$400-500) graphics card will run the sim amazingly well because it's been optimized for heavy graphics card use, leaving the CPU to deal with the flight physics.

  10. 8:12 That's fascinatingly creepy :) It's interesting to see this happening in my lifetime. Give it some time, an enormous amount of effort, and a ludicrous amount of money, and the world will eventually free itself from dependence on oil.

  13. +Malkavian American Glad you brought that up! It was a bit cheesy, but a great game to play! I enjoyed it a lot at the time, but haven't gotten around to attempting a reinstall under Win7 for old time's sake. I still have the CD kicking around somewhere. One CD. Today's air combat games/sims are 50 GB of textures and sounds :)

  15. Sam Arcade Check out DCS World's three WW2 fighter modules if realistic detail (both visually and systems, performance & aircraft handling) is what turns your crankshaft. Like I mentioned, I've played it to death over the years, and it's still pretty cool :)

  17. +Dave Walsh On the subject of atrocious flight sims that were great games, ever tried MS CFS3? Flight simulation was a joke, but the campaign mode was surprisingly entertaining!
