  1. You raise a very good point. Engineering jobs in unique corporations are difficult and expensive to fill. When I resigned my position with my employer of 14 years, I was offered a 20% raise to stay. I politely declined because my new job offered me a 25% increase in a much lower taxed jurisdiction. I had left on very good terms and I stayed in contact with my old boss and some former colleagues. Turned out my old boss had to hire two people to replace me! Say each at 2/3 of my former salary, the increased cost is easily determined. I resigned for several reasons; but I really enjoyed my work and working with my boss. He probably was the best boss I ever had for such a long time, about 10 years.
