You may, however, look up on google such things as the fire bombing o Hamburg and Dresden, and Rhine Meadows Camps. The latter is discussed in a book entitled "Other Losses".

  19.  @NerdilyDone  You raise an excellent point! German policy was to treat the enemy's POW the way the enemy treated German POW. That's the reason that western allies prisoners were treated so much better by the Germans than Soviet ones. Germany appealed to Stalin to help feed the Soviet POW's in Germany but Stalin refused as he considered those people to be traitors to the Soviet cause.

  29. gij: The idea of garden plots in Germany for the cliff dwellers in Germany pre-dates WWII many years. The so-called Schreber Gaerten (Schreber Gardens) were proscribed by Dr Schreber as a means of improving mental health and well-being of big city dwellers. The first Schreber Gaerten were made available in 1864. Small city dweller families were given allotments after the war to grow vegetables.
