@guairefernandezamil4084 Define European slavery.

You make a most valid point. Unfortunately we now live in a society that absolutely thrives on victim-hood. There is simply too much money to be had for this caterwauling to stop anytime soon.

Perfidious Albion at work, who wouldn't recognize truth if it fell on them.

Well, that's the common narrative. Have you ever seen a thorough economic analysis of these assertions? A long time ago I read such an analysis about the construction of the pyramids in Egypt. The author made an excellent case that these pyramids were not built by slaves to any great extend. Note that the author did not claim that there were no slaves, only that they played a very minor role during those projects.

@jossfitzsimons Ireland can also thank the European Union, specifically the primary contributors to the cause, for improving the Irish's lot tremendously.

It was tried. Methinks the African nation of Liberia was the result, and not a very good one at that. Read up on it.

Whenever anyone states that we must produce less carbon dioxide (CO2) I shut off my attention to that talk. Why? Because the obvious question to ask is WHY should we do that, ie. produce less CO2? (You can fill in the replies most often given, here). All this talk about CO2 reduction fails to consider this one most important fact: CO2 is a NECESSITY for healthy plant growth! Just talk to any commercial green house operator. These businesses increase the CO2 content in their growing establishments because the plants love it. It is no stretch of the imagination to envision that without plant life, there would be no life on earth! That being the case, one can only conclude that those "CO2 is harming the planet" advocates hate humanity, forests, and greenery. And happen to love forests and greenery! The jury is still out on my love for humanity, however:-))

That would be the fire bombing of helpless civilians in Germany and Vietnam; then Iraq and Afghanistan.

Very true; yet you sided with your oppressors for WW I & II.

With little to show for it.

You have to love the Brits; first they contribute mightily to a human existence condition -slavery-, and then they want accolades for stopping it. Perfidious Albion, indeed.
