I almost moved to Boise, but chose Tucson about 8 years ago. Back then, and even now, the pay was low in comparison to real estate.

Even in 1994 one could get a house in Strasberg (30 miles east of Aurora on 70) for less than 100 k. Even that area has changed drastically since then. 500 k for a house in town and 2 million for an acreage, that did not exist back than. Heck I think some houses there went for less than 70 k back in the early 90s, because it was too far away from metro Denver and was in the plains, but I figured that it was destined to grow like crazy. Live in a nice part of AZ now for a long time, close enough to Tucson, but still amazed as to how Strasberg, Bennett, Watkins etc. have changed over the years. One can see it from an airplane, how many new houses have popped up there over the last several years. Those areas used to be stand alone towns with barely 1000 people in each. One would never know that they were near a large city.
