I am part of that 5% you mention at the start. I saw a woman give birth when I was about 8 and I vowed there and then "I am NEVER" doing that Now past menopause and glad I didn't! None of my friends have kids ether. I've always avoided people who wanted them tbh.

@Rosie_Lemons I chose not to have children for many reasons. Seeing that woman in horrendous pain was an eye opener to eight year old me that's for sure hahaha But as I got older I looked around me and saw at many unhappy families, I realised just how much could go wrong and just how important a job raising a child is. First and foremost you need a strong relationship, and both people have to work together to raise happy, healthy and successful people who are an asset to society. It's too important a responsibility to take on without thinking it through. If I was going to do it if want to do it really well, or not at all. I'm ok with that decision. Now I'm an aunt and recently became a great aunt to a beautiful great nephew 😎👍🏼

@BadMotivator66 I have found other ways to contribute yes. If people genuinely want children and are prepared to do everything you need to do to bring them up well, I'm fully supportive of them. But too many people become parents for the wrong reasons or who just aren't up to the massive responsibility. There's no job more important in my view. It's not a responsibility to be taken lightly.
