  1. The fact that over ten thousand people applied for assisted suicide proves that there is a desire and a need for it. These are not people who were forced into it. They APPLIED. They had to be approved. We are kinder to animals who are suffering than we are to people. When my degenerative disease makes the quality of my life untenable for ME, how dare anyone deny me the ability to ease my suffering. I don't want to have attempt it myself and risk fucking up, leaving a mess for others to clean up. I want the option. It's not for everyone but everyone should have the legal option for help to ease their pain and suffering. Obviously with lots of checks and balances and a fully INDEPENDENT body to monitor its use to make sure people don't feel coerced or pushed into a corner through lack of help and support. There's no cure for what I have. And I'm early middle aged from a long living family. 30 years as a paraplegic potentially unable to speak, see, hear.... No thank you. That would be a living hell. Let me go if and when I need to. That's all we ask.
