But when a woman married, she legally ceased to exist as a separate entity. She would become part of her husband, not a separate person, he would automatically own everything she brought into the marriage and she would own literally nothing but the clothes on her back. She couldn't do anything legally, she was to all intents and purposes, a child her whole life. That is why the father "gives the bride away". If a dowry was given by the bride's family, it was to compensate the husband for the cost of feeding and clothing her etc. It's not that long ago in historical terms that that changed.

Who's going to want to trust someone who could just dump them for someone they think the grass will be greener with? It works both ways guys. I wouldn't be in the slightest bit interested in a man who's been with (the figure you used was 30) girls. That number seems horribly high to me, is that what dating is like now??? One or two, single figures even,... Ok. But more than that? It's like someone who can't hold down a job.... who wants to take a chance on giving them a job? They're either horrible to work with our insane to stick to anything for long.
