The "secret" to finding a partner with whom you can have a mutually great relationship, be there for each other, care for each other, love each other, fancy each other, want to be there in the long term for each other, is to develop yourself so that you become a great person to know, a wise person, a secure person, an interesting person, a good person. Pretending to be all and any of these things might get you a date but it won't get you anyone who wants to stick around when they find out you're a fraud. So you'll end up worse off than before because dating that goes nowhere just drags you down, makes you lose confidence in yourself and faith in others. You're on a hiding to nothing
