It doesn't matter what you wear, if you're a young woman or very young girl wearing regular clothes trying to get in with your day like everyone else, you will attract attention from men OF ALL AGES, old enough to be your grandfather even, who will follow, comment, lech and leer at you. Why do think so many girls are completely opting out of womanhood all together at any precedented rate. Men are pornsaturated. It's revolting to be a young woman now. If you go to a gym, you sweat, you need to be comfortable and not drowning under layers of clothes. And you EXPECT to be safe and protected from creepy guys in a gym rather than out in the street.
