We didn't think of them as "boys" toys and "girls'" toys then. They were just toys. I loved my microscope and chemistry set too. Kids were just left to be kids and figure out what they liked for themselves. I learned to ride a motorbike at 13. I'm a middle aged heterosexual woman who still rides motorbikes now. My partner and I go out riding together, each on our own bike. I love riding his Honda fireblade. It's awesome. In this climate I would have been convinced to have a mastectomy and take testosterone. Complete disdain and zero empathy for their vistims. They were despicable characters who were portrayed supposedly comically as "lovable rogues". They may as well have been putting a gun to some of their victims' heads who were taken in by their stories and going into mountain of debt for the people they thought they were helping. The racism was there, but I wasnt allowed to call it out. My review was rejected. "I Do Not Come To You By Chance" is the book. A horrid book.

I don't think it's split along left/right lines though Identity politics and wokeism seems to have infiltrated everywhere even though most left wing people don't agree with it and do actually live in the real world.
