  1. Somebody somewhere 4 or 5 years ago told execs at square enix, activision, ubisoft, etc that there was an untapped goldmine to be found in DEI. The regular players would still buy the games, and the marginalized would also buy them now because they felt represented. It was a beautiful lie that took these companies for hundreds of millions of dollars. Although it should probably be said, that it isnt the DEI that people have such a problem with. Its the terrible writing that results from attempting to shoehorn in DEI where it had no business being in the first place.
