Darth Plagueis watching from the shadows: “Is it over yet?”
301
I did always get the feeling this shift away from what obviously works was the idea from someone somewhere that “we have the money, power, and resources to literally change human behavior.”And sold to investors as “We can make men watch rom-coms, and women watch superhero movies. All the have to do is basically force them too long enough that their spirit breaks and theyll become woke just like us.” Unfortunately, at $300M a pop even disney ran out of money, power, and resources before they could change the hardwired desires of men and women. 1984 has failed.

The best review you can get from the drinker - “the drinker recommends”. The worst review you can get from the drinker - “No thanks not even gonna watch it.” Get owned, scrub. 😂

Man, going back and watching all these drinker videos on why modern movies suck has been so eye-opening. Not in a “oh thats why” sort of way, but in the “yes thats exactly what i thought i just couldnt put those thoughts into words” sort of way. Thanks drinker for calming my mind and letting me get back to the important things… like this bottle of Laphroaig quarter cask 😎👍

She was too busy working on that dance choreo to properly learn the fight choreo for her actual job 😂

“A show based on league of legends? LoL 😂” Then you watch it and youre like: HO LEE SHIT 😱😱😱 I cant wait for season 2, whenever it happens.

Its kind of fun to go back and watch these videos years later… as the Acolyte nears release, we can see if the drinkers prophecy comes true 😂

Awww i thought the movie was gonna be a fun romp where a clever and creative writer gets just a few too many guesses right and attracts the attention of actual spies, and then good guy spy has to save the day and the writer gets some great inspiration for her next book. Id watch that. 😂

Ha! I was about to make this very comment 😂

Another crazy thing i noticed is how truly “woke” this movie is. Not the fake wokeness in current media where people point fingers about equality while being blatantly racist, but the kind of woke where race and gender have no real effect on your opportunities, because race and gender arent really a thing anymore. The characters in the boot camp of the mobile infantry for example are incredibly diverse, from black women to white men and everything in between (nothing openly gay or trans, but that probably has more to do with it being made in 1997). Even the new, more thoughtful sky marshall is a strong black woman. The thing is, the movie makes no attempt to point out this diversity, it just simply “is”. Dunno just seemed cool i guess 🤷♂️

May your cup be ever full, May your roof be ever strong. And may you be in Heaven half an hour Before the Devil knows you’re dead. Cheers mate. See ya tomorrow 🍻

After watching this video, i went and watched RRR. Its everything the drinker describes. I am also glad i finally watched it. If you think of RRR as an Indian version of a Shonen anime, it all makes sense.
2
Games Workshop: why do people love warhammer? Fans: because it doesnt bow to woke madness. Games Workshop: oh, about that…

Loved this movie as a kid. Went back and watched it again many years and was like “oh snap is that Jayne Cobb??” 😂

Meanwhile, Palworld sells 19M copies and Helldivers 2 is the talk of the town. You had a good run, sweet baby, but its our turn now. Betcha didnt think itd be me at end, did ya? 😂
2
“At least itll be better than the Amazon TV series” how right you were 😂

Star Wars has become that friend whom you were very close with until they got into a toxic relationship. Youve watched their toxic partner systematically destroy all the friendships and goodwill they had, youve tried many times to help them get out but youve grown tired of trying, because every time they just end up right back with them again. Youll always hold out a little hope, but you know deep down at this point your friend is gone, and never coming back. And even if they do someday free themselves from their toxic relationship, whats left of them and who they used to be will be a stranger to you. As close as you once were, its too late because youve moved on.

Let us also not forget how endlessly quoteable this movie is. Especially ruby rod 😂 I still shoo people away by waving my hands about saying bzzz zzz zzz!

At least in the case of Kylo Ren, i always felt he was supposed to be exactly as drinker describes. Hes that kid you knew in high school who had loving and supportive parents, plenty of money and prospects, good grades and was generally well liked, and then one day gets a little too into Nine Inch Nails or Marilyn Manson, and decides hes a villian with a cold heart and a soul of ice. He tries to be broody and mean but it falls flat because everyone who knows him knows his life is just fine. Hes a pathetic villian and thats the point. Now, all that being said, he should have either had a redemption arc rather quickly, or simply been a minor side character as the true sinister antagonist appeared. But that would mean those star wars movies were well written 😂

Dont forget the 3rd episode aired first. And it was cancelled so fast only 12 of the 14 episodes even aired at all.

Two years later i can say the most that slap did was make will smith look like a fool. The Oscars continue to be pointless and unwatched. By me at least 😂
2
Feels like they asked bill if he wanted to be in a crow remake and he was like “hell yea!” And then after already commiting and signing the contract found out what movie he was actually making and got real sad 😂

I saw season 1 and loved it but didnt have enough sub time on my hbo max to watch season 2 or 3. I didnt believe people when they said s2 and 3 were bad, but… when the drinker agrees with them, well thats reason enough for me. Thanks for saving a few bucks on a sub fee my dude 😎👍

I still like ryan.

This is actually the Boris the Blade origin story 😂

Makes you wonder if perhaps the only reason it got so many oscar noms was to get everyone to watch the oscars to see if such a garbage movie would actually win. Me personally, i wont be watching the oscars… ever again. Check and mate.

Hold on, is there no part 2??? 😱
1
SWT’s Vader series. Thats what we should be excited about.

Pretty sure in the case of john wayne as genghis khan, that no one who watched the movie believed for a second that the real genghis khan was white or looked anything like john wayne. 😂

Firefly: the greatest show ever cancelled.

Maybe im not the only one who has noticed a decline in interest toward hollywood films. I cant even say if its because theyve become worse, because i dont even watch them anymore 😅 Between work, doomscrolling on youtube and playing video games, i just dont find myself with the time or the desire to sit and watch any of this stuff 🤷♂️ The Drinker’s reviews are enough for me most of the time.
1
Funny thing is, i never had any interest in this movie. I wasnt going to see it no matter how good it was. Now that its terrible, im almost tempted to see it just to know “how terrible” 😂 Im still not going to see it, though.

It may have been my age at the time, but i liked ghostbusters 2 better than ghostbusters 1 😂

As i said before: “If you like Wicked, then you’ll like Wicked.” 😂 This movie is probably aimed at the people who love the broadway show, and people like me who are intrigued by the broadway show but either due to lack of funds or not living in NYC, have never actually seen it. This movie gives me the chance to finally know what all the fuss was about 😂 For this same reason i can’t wait for the Book of Mormon movie.
1
If it got Aubrey Plaza a paycheck, then i’m ok with it. 😂

I wonder if Jeff Bezos or his wife are just too rich to give a shit if rings of power is good or not. Everyone hates it? F*ck em. Make season 2 anyway.
1
“I swear by my pretty floral bonnet i will end you.” 😂

He did all those crunches… and for what? 😂

Andor feels like what Solo should have been. A glimpse into what the rest of the galaxy goes through when no jedi are involved. Its the only show ive seen (besides maybe season 1 of mandalorian) where i hope to see a second season.
1
Haha, when i heard this show wasnt awful, i asked if it was similar vibes to goonies, explorers, or flight of the navigator 😂 And sure ET too. Why not. Oh and dont forget “The Last Starfighter!” 😂

Bro, 100%

Is this… American Dr. Who?

As sure as i am that RDJ could do an awesome dr doom… is he really the only one who could? I see this and just think… why? 🤷♂️🤦🏻♂️

“Its terribly draining to listen to” 😂

The Jedi aren’t the bad guys. The writers are the bad guys.

Great video. Id be interested in a follow up concerning the hobbit movies, and where you think the differences lie. I think we can all agree the LoTR trilogy was top notch filmaking, and that the hobbit trilogy was not at the same level for whatever reason.

I never thought of Bill as the villian. If anything hes an anti-hero. “The system” is the villian. I could imagine a prequel where you find out that Bill isnt violent, hes just let down by the system time and again that the stress it brings eventually pulls him down to a point of no return. Hes a man we would all relate to and could see ourselves behaving the same way in his situation. Its why the showdown at the end has so much tension. You want bill to win, even though Pendergast is the “good guy”. Im not sure if its actually in the film or just my imagination, but i always see a moment of Pendergast after the final encounter with a wet mark on his clothes. Showing that Bill did win. But Bill chose to use a squirt gun, and if he hadnt, Pendergast would be dead and he would have gotten away. But in the end, Bill still believes in the American dream, and sees that Pendergast just might have a chance to live it.

Ill believe it when i see it. And even then, only if its good 😂

I saw this movie on HBO with my dad… when i was 5 😂 it may have given me nightmares but not because i was afraid, more that my young mind and no reference with which to process most of the movie. I do sometimes wonder if my dad ever felt guilty for letting me watch it 🤷♂️😂

If anyone can save the MCU, its Van Wilder. 👍
