sellers can add 12% to an item to accommodate the off site ad fee, the 1.5 increase is very small...this won’t hurt Etsy financially at all but will hurt small shop owners

@zodadotpaul yes but people make it sound like Etsy takes another 30% fee off each item sold, saying it’s a 30% increase sounds much worse than saying they’re increasing it by 1.5% which is not much

@slowpokejpg6 I’m a seller too, I’ll raise my prices a little to accommodate the increase, will you leave Etsy? I think the cost is worth having access to so many customers, I used to sell wholesale, it’s so much better to sell online and charge retail prices, I do craft fairs too but the overhead adds much more to my items than the 6.5%

@slowpokejpg6 adding a bit more to cover an increase isn’t price gouging unless you charged too much to begin with. Where are you selling now?

@Karen.c.h sales would plummet if you made a 7.00 item 8.00? I’ve only had a few sales from offsite ads, did you get a lot?

@nwshirts I haven’t gotten many off site ads so I don’t need to add the extra fee.

@nwshirts I’ve looked into other platform over the years and most of them charge a monthly fee in addition to other fees, Etsy is still a really good deal

@Karen.c.h I don’t agree with all of Etsy’s policies, they shouldn’t force someone to pay for ads, I just wish the sellers promoting the boycott would consider the shop owners, it’s not a “ strike” and the owners aren’t the victims of any income loss
