@cOr3t3ecks I suspect that it has more likely to do with the resources that will become available and he is not the first POTUS to make a monetary offer to aquire Greenland,but yes I am sure he expected it to rile up the Scandinavians.

@cOr3t3ecks Well our ancestors have seen it happen at least once before and the evidence is potentially in Greenland.Maybe that is why the Don wants to buy Greenland?So as to study a potential Ice age impact site?

@cOr3t3ecks I think that the real reason for the proposition to buy Greenland is Geopolitical - there are new North Atlantic shipping lanes opening up due to melting polar ice caps which greatly decrease travel times.China has made proposals to develop a " Polar Silk road " by building new airports and mining facilities in Greenland in 2018.Yes the natural resources of Greenland will atract the attention of super powers because the true quantity is unknown, but shipping lanes have historically been more valuable and military control of the surrounding region is paramount if you want to remain in economic control against a rising rival by building especially Airforce and Naval bases on a Control point and there are many similar economic opportunities across the Arctic. The Teflon Don is not the first POTUS to make a inquiry as Harry Truman did so in 1946 and there are documented attempts going back to 1867.
