AUKUS, CPTPP, unwavering support for Ukraine, a new USA trade deal, love from Poland, Sweden and Finland and the windsor framework. Global Britain was been very sneakily raising to the top of the world stage...

They did break EU unity, the UK has been helping eastern EU nations with their fight against Russia, it has certainly helped our diplomatic cause. Germany and France are not popular in Eastern Europe.

@stiofain88 Apart from in Europe. We are hosting Eurovision (effectively a popularity contest) remember?

we are simultaneously in the EU and out of the EU at the same time . We can also veto any law we don't like when it comes to Northern Ireland and make our own trade deals. It doesn't sound a bad agreement.

@Michael_from_EU_Germany The UK is an amazing position. Northern Ireland is part of the EU single market while the rest of the UK has completely left. We are both in and out at exactly the same time, While under the new windsor framework Westminster can veto any new EU laws passed in Northern Ireland it doesn't consent to. AND we can still pass new trade deals. I think the whole concept is great!!

@Protont he GFA isn't UK law. But it also states Northern Ireland is sovereign British territory.
1
@Protont ....and looking at opinion polls from Dec 2022 only 26% would vote for Irish unity in the north.
1
@Protont well it's currently running at 26%, which isn't great.

@Protont es, buts that doesn't change the demographics of the country does it? It just means a few 1000 DUP votes have switched to a different party. And concidering the recent IRA murder of a policeman infront of his son and school, I would keep quiet.

@Michael_from_EU_Germany It's not called the protocol anymore. It's the windsor framework and part of the UK is in the EU single market and part of it isn't. So yes, we are in the EU and out at exactly the same time.

@Michael_from_EU_Germany "As a result of the protocol, NI has in effect remained in the EU's single market for goods (England, Scotland and Wales have left the EU's single market for goods). This allows goods to flow to and from NI to the ROI and the rest of the EU as they did while the UK was a member of the EU, without customs checks, tariffs or new paperwork" nidirect. gov.uk

@Michael_from_EU_Germany so yes it only applies to goods. But no, it does just apply to Ireland.
1
@Michael_from_EU_Germany the UK can export goods to the EU tarrif free. I didn't sign the agreement.
1
@paologat well looks like Boris was right then. The protocol bill is the only option.
