  1. The country we have now is not the same country it was in the early 1900s. Its continued to change and evolve. Once you have a written constitution that ability to adapt and change is greatly limited!! The system works fine, it's almost working to well and is perhaps causing marginal instability.

  2. arguably PR voting actually limits democracy because MPs would not be directly answerable to the electorate.

Under fptp you typically get strong governments and extremists parties are normally not represented!! My MP is also directly answerable to ME!! I can wright him a letter and go around his house.

  8.  @seang2700  In terms of a complete democracy, is that even wise? Is the "mob" always correct? No is the answer. Why do have a queen? Why do we have a house of Lords? Very sensible logical answer exist for for both.

  9.  @seang2700  The mob isn't always correct. Infact its often wrong. That what the commons represents. The mob. That's why we have a lords, it can debate issues sensibly free from the "mob mentality" and political biases. They are not motivated by re election and should be free to think what is best for the country. Its clever!!
