@col.hertford9855 Tony Blair predicted all this at PMQs years ago. Cameron told Blair he would hold a referendum and would ask for consessions. Blair stated the EU would simply tell us to go away and following this the British public would then vote to leave. Tony Blair predicted it all.

Fun fact the RMT union told all its members to vote to leave the EU.

People have long memories, they remember. The pandemic, Owen Paterson, the fiscal mismanagement. And I don't actually think he understands the people that voted for him, he's more London centric orientated than middle England.

@darthwiizius People have long memories, they remember. The pandemic, Owen Paterson. the fiscal mismanagement. And I don't actually think he understands the people that voted for him, he's more London centric orientated than middle England.

Yep, it was utterly depressing.

The economy hasn't grown since 2008. It was £3.1 trillion 15 years ago and it is still £3.1 trillion now!! Just google UK GDP. It has a nicec graph and everything.
8
it's a everything problem. The weak pound isn't helping. Raising intrest will help, oil is bought in dollars. It may destroy all the recent home owners though who bought at the peak of the market. They have no option but to raise intrest rates.
7
@moon_knight8578 Milk prices were 15p while we were in the EU. They peaked at 50p last year. What do you think caused that?
6
Labour continues to remain out of power for the foreseeable future.
6
the UK has done something similar. And our population isn't shrinking. Its increased by 3 million over the last 10 years.
5
We barely make or export anything. We are litterly a nation of hairdressers and shopkeepers.
5
Arguably he did fine in 2017.
5
it's complicated debate. It is not unreasonable to ask for a 3-4% annual increase in pay. But alot of people aren't even getting that. But If you're wanting 10% the money needs to be found from somewhere. A small company with 50 people averaging £30000 wages would need to sell an extra £1.8 million worth of goods or put your prices up. Based on the current economic climate and increased costs selling more is hard. And as for the public sector you can't keep printing money and taxing people.
5
I think most people are going that way. We've had 12 years of a conservative government and it might be time for a change. But Labour don't help themselves, the rececently elected Paulette Hamilton does not come across well her video on the "bullet or ballet box" will come back to haunt them.
5
you are right, concidering the number of MPs Scotland has compared to its population size and its devolved regional government the regional areas of England are hugely democratically underrepresented (and don't get me started on money spent per head of population)
4
I think people are tired of the all arguing. But if things go to quiet Boris will probably inflame tensions with a few poorly chosen words. He did it recently, everyone was starting to get along then Boris starts EU bashing again.
4
you are going to have the same issue, you print billions prices inevitably rise. Thankfully we still control our intrest rates and monetry policy to control things.
4
I think the war in the Ukraine is final reason why the UK will never rejoin the EU. Being economically tied with a block of countries where Putin can shut down its entire industry at a push of a button is not great plan. We left at just the right time.
4
@bnorth1087 ...and it doesn't get a say in any of the laws passed, has to contribute to its budget and is under the jurisdiction of a foreign court. Great plan Norway!!!
4
....and it's more economical to plant trees and they were driven out the industry by higher costs of production.
4
@johnrussell3961 Merkel refusing to grant Cameron any consessions thus sending the press into a melt down probably didn't help.
4
@col.hertford9855 It was the way it presented. A German chancellor dictating to British public wat they can and can't do.
4
...i work 50 hours a week and I voted leave. Mainly to stop my hard earned tax money subsidising useless, bankrupt tiny French farms and EU industry. They can pay for their own failing industry!!
4
Sounds about right, they've had 15 years to prepare for this, an idiot could see it eventually coming. It is unbelievable what has actually happened.
4
Well you can, they printed money like water to pay for everything.
4
...stealing from the poor? They didn't earn it did they? The worlds gone mad!!
3
What was Margret Thatchers greatest achievement? New Labour!
3
it's also run by mafia. GO MAFIA!!!
3
I don't think you realise how awful UK farming was in the 90s and 00s. It was terrible.
3
Germanys electricy mix only relys on 11% natural gas while the UK its closer to 40%, a large proportion of energy in Germany also comes from Coal. France is 90% nuclear, so doesn't even use gas. We also rely heavily on the free market for gas supply for some reason. But we never maintained the infastructure to store the gas, again nothing to do with Brexit. The graphs shown here are meaningless and have a agenda.
3
alot are also landowners and by voting Tory they avoid inheritance and land taxes. God bless John Major.
3
everyone has probably realised the EU hasn't the will or the means to enforce anything.
3
no one likes him...
3
Puberty blockers and chemical castration are the same thing. Why are we chemically castrating children? It's a genuine question?
3
What a stupid argument. Norway is a Scandinavian country who decided not join the EU for exactly the same reasons why we left. High payments to stay in "the club" with little in return
3
Great!! But maybe you shouldn't of sold off your healthcare to the private sector. Thankfully we still have a healthcare system free at the point of use here.
3
Great. Instead of admitting perhaps you were wrong you double down and carry on wittering nonsense. Surely Starmer should resign if he found guilty?
3
Oppose Brexit? You are aware we left the EU already don't you?
3
clearly his authority was indoubt along time ago. Other wise the rebellion wouldn't of happened.
3
Boris isn't going to cost anyone anything. A good proportion of people are leaning on the left side of the fence anyway. He got a majority in 2019 to break the Brexit deadlock.
3
You are right. Warehouse and distribution is where the money is. Companies have to store products now since we left the EU.
3
it's not really up to you, it's up to the conservative mps, Tory members and voters. My guess he will limp on to the next election.
3
a failed science teacher.
3
@jamonit7169 They have been in power for a long time now. A large proportion of our energy is supplied from natural gas (40%), how could they not of been prepared for this?
3
To honest i don't think its a bad idea
3
@emm_arr A ruling class exists. We are not part of it.
3
The European Economic Community, as the EU was then known, "was never devised to suit us, and our experience as a member of it has made it more difficult for us to deal with our economic and industrial problems". Labour party manifesto 1983
3
He also has nothing to lose. He has no children and has never had experience on the front line or war. His rhetoric has gone down like a led balloon in France.
2
yes, self loathing, depression and pulling everyone else down is a characteristic often found in a certain part of left.
2
what on earth on you reading into? Tony Blair and Tony Benn have recently come out critising the protocol. The only way it is heading is its renegotiation!!
