"the EU has the only constitution in the world commited to capitalism, it destroys the prospect of socialism anywhere in Europe" The late Tony Benn, Labour MP.
2
@ab-ym3bf what evidence do you have to prove that? When you have commited socialists like Jeremy corbyn and Tony benn speaking up against the impending eu empire something is very clearly wrong
1
@ab-ym3bf they were speaking up against the EU. A impending empire controlled by the bankers.
1
@ab-ym3bf English propaganda? Tony Benn was a hugely successful labour mp and member of government. He was a avid socialist, vegetarian, spoke up agaist the wars in the middle east and a very good man. These are his words not mine.
1
@ab-ym3bf if my mps is doing a bad job I can vote him out. Look at what happened to Greece, tell me it is not the money men controlling the block. It certainly isn't the people.
1
@ab-ym3bf Greece had a democratic vote and it was ignored and over ruled by the bankers. Need I say more.
1
@ab-ym3bf Our government is already reconsidering hs2 and extensive property development on green belt. Why? Because they are loosing votes. Thats democracy.
1
@ab-ym3bf so if Scotland votes for independence you would be happy the referendum was ignored because it arguably wouldn't be in the best intrest of the people?
1
@ab-ym3bf Everything you have just said proves why your side looses every debate and why labour has been out of power for so long. Zero grasp on politics, people or reality.
1
@ab-ym3bf Their is so much wrong with what you are saying. You are aware Blair promised a referendum on EU membership? He never followed it through. That's democracy, consent of the people.
1
@ab-ym3bf I will quote Tony Benn again "They are building an empire and I want no part of it"
1
@ab-ym3bf The most successful, peaceful countries follow the British system of parliamentary democracy. America, Australia, New Zealand. Very rich countries with very high standards of living.
1
@ab-ym3bf a handfull? Well over one 1/3 of the worlds population is govern by the British system. Britain and the USA are two of the oldest countries in the world without having undergone a regime change. Why do think that is? Back to my other point you actively encourage Scotish nationalism and want a referendum while turning your nose up at English nationalism and Brexit. Dispite your mental gymnastics it is why your arguments falls to pieces and you keep loosing. Your arguments have nothing to do econmics or common sense, you just don't like the english. What your describing isn't democracy, it very dictatorial.
1
@ab-ym3bf this is how uneducated you are billions of people around the world use the British system of governance. A upper and lower house, fptp voting system, the idea of English Common law. The English system is the basis for most modern democratic countries.
1
@ab-ym3bf they have had numerous referendums in the EU, they just decide to ignore the results.
1
@ab-ym3bf yep, Ireland, Greece and even France. It appears to be a reoccurring theme of ignoring the will of the people. All this information is freely available on line if it helps?
1
@ab-ym3bf Yes, the individual national parliaments listen to the voters. They have to and have an incentive to do so. The EU doesn't, none of the top jobs within the EU are elected.
1
@ab-ym3bf Correct, I haven't a clue how the EU is run. Which isn't a great advert when a huge proportion of my laws came directly from the EU without debate in the commons and I was in it most of my life. If you don't understand something which is ruling your life, it is safer to get rid of it!!
1
@ab-ym3bf ....all the top in this country are elected and/or accountable to the public. The majority of power resides in the commons and public opinion still has the ability to change things here. Dispite appearances.
1
@ab-ym3bf no, they get rubberstamped. None of the laws are debated.
1
@ab-ym3bf the reality was the majority of UK citizens didn't see a benefit of the EU. We paid far more into it than we got back and from a trade perspective it appears it was only the London financial sector that benifited. We had a huge deficite and lost money to the block every year dispite being one of the biggest contributors. It was a joke.
