I'm surprised you lot haven't had a break down about the flag in the background.

@mfredholm we would support Scotland to leave, but they don't seem to want to. Most people in England are in favour of a independent Scotland.
1
@colinbaker3916 we also have the same electorate system as Canada, America, India and most of africa. hugely successful countries. PR country tend to be characterised by weak governance and weak countries. Italy is an example, a failed democracy.

The only reason The UK has the wealth it does is directly from the reforms it pushed through in thr 80s and 90s, that came directly from have a strong government and fptp voting system. Countries like France and Italy will never be able to push through the changes they need and as result will fall further down the country leader board.
1
@stephenwhiddett no one is predicting that. Do some research, the UK outlook is very positive compared to France and Italy.
1
@geraldhewing2076 no it hasn't, keep in mind the majority of time we were in the EU we were one of the poorest nations. It came from Thatchers reforms, reforms countries like Italy or France can not achieve due to their voting system, being trapped in the Euro and weak governance.

@mfredholm Australians, Canadian and Indians were all British citizens that fought in the British army. It must of been a humiliation Prussia being annex to Poland. It had to be done, Germany wouldn't stop invading its neighbours.

@elliotwilliams7421 hes not wrong, if you read literature in the 70s and 80s the people of England felt we were just going to become a pointless suburb of Brussels. The feeling never went away.
1
@elliotwilliams7421 historically labour stood on a anti eu plarform, so did Sein fein in Northern Ireland and the SNP. No one liked them. When you look into the facts the conservatives were the only consistently pro EU party in this country over the decades. It was never a left v right debate here.
1
@elliotwilliams7421 in the imortal words of the late great labour mp Tony Benn "They are building an empire and I want no part of it"
1
@elliotwilliams7421 the English have consistently produced some of the most powerful stable countries with the highest standards EVER. They understand for a country to prospure its people must ultimately be free.
1
@elliotwilliams7421 Nations have a habit of evolving, changing, developing. Nothing is consistent for ever and because of this you can't shackle 300 million people into a one size fits all scenario, people will ultimately rebel and it will lead to collapse. And unless the EU changes it will collapse.
1
@elliotwilliams7421 I read alot. Its how I understand uk politics, culture and history so well. I follow labour and the conservatives. Both are important, I'd argue the left are currently winning the argument.
1
@elliotwilliams7421 the past is important, it lays the foundations for current opinions. It's often passed down via families and literature.
1
@m.m.9684 I'd argue against the "advantageous deal". Dispite being one of the biggest contributors we consistently ran a trade deficite. If all we did was trade with the EU the UK would have no money left.
1
@elliotwilliams7421 you haven't really said anything apart insults and associating brexit with the far right. Which I have proved isn't actually true. A huge proportion of the left in this country are differently not fans.
1
@elliotwilliams7421 the fact is the majority of both Labour and conservative constituencies voted for brexit. The majority of the British public voted to leave. Facts are facts.

@colinbaker3916 I'd vote labour if they actually came up with something decent. I honestly belive in democracy and a form of socialism. The political left in this country are very important, people need help with their wages and deserve decent health care and schooling. But the left in this country have failed and and nationalist like Boris and Farage have just hoovered up the power vacum. People just conclude they are better off looking after themselves. I come here looking for hope and all I get is a bunch of idiots supporting a institution supported and ran by a bunch of bankers.
1
@colinbaker3916 I look at things differently, workers just want a decent fair crack at the system, it is not fair at the moment. Bosses who keep wages low while they take all the profit. £9000 a year university fees, unaffordable houses and even worse high rents and short tennencies were landlords can kick you out at a moments notice. How can any working person succeed in this system? Something is going to give sooner or later. This is what labour is supposed to be sorting out!! They don't, so they vote for the populist option. I don't care about the EU!!
1
@colinbaker3916 right wing media? The majority of the media were in favour of remaining. To simply proclaim the majority of the electorate is stupid is simply the height of arrogance. England has some of the best universities with some of the most highly educated creative people in the world.
1
@colinbaker3916 time will tell, but the EU in its current state is far to ridgid. The people will ultimately bring it down if they have any self respect.
1
@colinbaker3916 but the 80s, 90s and 00s worked because we had a booming economy with high tax receipts which could be funnelled into good schools to create decent social mobility.
1
@colinbaker3916 Back in 2016 75% of mps in commons supported membership of the EU, the BBC, sky news, house of Lords, the entire business community. The Sunday Times, mail on Sunday, financial Times, the Sunday telegraph, the observer not to mention all the papers you highlighted, all supported remain. Once the vote had happened on a mathematical basis 70% of Tory constituencies voted leave and 60% of labour constituencies voted to leave.
1
@colinbaker3916 book cooking? 54 of the seats the conservatives gained from labour a grand total of 52 of them voted leave. Make of that what you will. Labour policies are popular. Stop wittering on about Brexit.
