Look at what happened to Lebanon. It was a liberal minded Christian nation until recently.

Not in England. Its been banned.

200 years ago, England beat Napoleon. It financed the entire European war effort. And Londons reach is global. it's never been just Europe. Its litterly the centre of the world.
14
It was never about stocks and shares. London is a place for very rich people to hide their money. London has a net work of colonies to do this.
10
@bixbysnyder-00 Culturally, the English never fitted in with the Europeans.
10
I think the French should be more concerned about the huge debt it owes.
9
@bixbysnyder-00 If you look at trade, we ran a constant deficite with the EU. So I disagree. And we were one of the main contributors to the budget. We gave them £15 billion and got £5 billion back. So, no they needed us more.
9
@bixbysnyder-00 ...and politically the EU ran a system of law orginating in Napoleonic France. We are a common law country, it caused chaos!!
8
@moggadah "An integration project" That was the problem. The English have a remarkable sense of national identity. Everyone was onboard with a free trade agreement, but in terms of a political union it went to far!!
6
@haraldhardrade7539 Yes, the British financed them!!
6
@Mu3az523 Waves of imigration from palestine tipped the demographics, and the PLO kicked off a civil war.
4
@SeruraRenge11 but the conflict also explains why no one wants to take Palestinian refugees in the middle east
4
@SeruraRenge11 In the 1960s Lebanon was majority Christian.
3
The UK has huge shale reserves. Good luck trying to get it out the ground!! Everyone just goes crazy if you even mention it.
2
@MIEJ4 We do have a free trade agreement. It's called "The EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement." We've also signed a free trade agreement with the "comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership, " which is most of Asia, Canada, and Australia
2
@chrisjackson1215 I mean physically it is the center. Its positioning allows London to trade with people all over the world. Not just Europe. And London has a network of old colonies where you can stash your cash away tax free. No other countries has this.
2
They do have a meaningful policy. They have attempted re calibrated its trade to Asia with the Cptpp tread deal.

France are having a bad time at the moment.. Mass riots, political and economic collapse, getting kicked out of Africa and asylum seekers are risking their lives by crossing the English channel so they can start a life in Great Britain.
1
Cheese policy is very important to the French.
1
Low birth rate, mass immigration, civil war, and now it's an Islamic state.
1
@Mu3az523 Insurgents mainly came from the PLO. It looks like they started the war. They started fighting the Christians in 1975.
1
@SeruraRenge11 Look what ever you say in 1960 Lebanon was a majority Christian nation with a Christian government. Mass migration changed that.

European farmers are rubbish. They are typically tiny units and are heavily subsidied. They are finally having to face reality.
1
....Prussia were the main trouble makers. They were annexed off into Poland after the war. So in my opinion there is nothing to worry about.
1
I watched a documentary yesterday. The Greek Coast Guard was chucking immigrant babies into the ocean. It was horrible. Is this a symptom of widder European society. Is history about to repeat itself?
1
Yes. The USA has had an abundance of cheap energy. It one of the reasons it has left Europe in the dust when comparing quality of life. Please dont end up like the UK, we are so thick we are trying to produce energy from solar panels even though we dont see the sun for 9 months of the year.
1
You seem confused. Erecting trade barriers with the EU helped our farmers. It prevented them from flooding our markets and crashing farm prices. Yes, England can only grow basic food. But they are very good at it.
1
They cost £15000. That is why we don't have heat pumps.
1
It was UK taxpayers effectively paying for the EUs' small tiny farms.
1
I don't think they will. But Trump has a point. It's not fair on American taxpayers. All Europe counties have to do is spend 2% of GDP on defence, and some of them are not even doing that.
1
@knoll9812 Well we are still technically in the EU. Northern Ireland is part of the UK while still having access to the EU. And we have a free trade agreement too. We can also sign new trade agreements like the trans pacific partnership. Which we've done.
1
@theliato3809 Until the 2019 election. Boris just replaced the mps.
1
@IMelkor42 By 2015, millions of voters were voting for UKIP. It was splitting the conservative vote He had no choice.
1
@IMelkor42 By 2015, millions of voters were voting for UKIP. It was splitting the conservative vote. The debate needed to be settled. They also gave Scotland an independence referendum too.
1
@IMelkor42 Historically the UK has a habit of holding these types of votes every 30 or so years
1
The amusing thing about Brexit and the minds of the remainers was that English nationalism was bad. However, Scotish nationalism and the break up of a very old country were good. It was pure hatred of the English was the reason they wanted to stay.
1
@maxcream6726 Maybe. But countries like England and America are aggressive. Their political systems allow them to reinvent themselves if required
1
@chrisjackson1215 It a fact. London is the center of the world. The zero degree meridian passes through Greenwich.
1
@chrisjackson1215 You can't disagree.
1
I knew some Greek years ago. They didn't start to work until they were in their late 20s and generally retired at 50. It wasn't a surprise the country went bankrupt.
1
The UK has loads of shale gas, coal, and oil. We've decided to rely on imported European gas and solar farms (We live in a very dark northern country)
1
@Purple_flower09 Rubbish. We have extensive coal and shale gas supplies. America has fracked extensively and has been in the middle of a boom. So what do we do when there is no wind? It happens. Regularly. We end up buying out of contract European gas at above market prices. Their is a war on. And as for Solar. We don't see the sun for 7 months of the year. Plants cant even utilise the suns energy. They don't grow.
1
@Purple_flower09 What do you suggest when there is no wind? It happens regularly. And as for solar, plants can't even utilise the suns energy for photosynthesis during the winter here. They don't grow!! And we have plenty of shale gas and coal. America fracked and is now booming due to cheap energy.
1
What do you think Brexit was? The rise of ukip and the SNP? Trump in America? This process has been ongoing for about 15 years now.
1
I think its stupidity and ridgidness will eventually kill it off. The UK has already gone. And that was only because it never joined the Euro and its first past the post voting system allowed it to form a majority to pass the nesssary laws. So arguably no other EU nation has the capacity to leave. They are trapped.
1
....The British economy has morphed multi times since the end of the 2nd world war. 1945-80 was the end of the Empire Attlee Mixed economy period. And between 1980 and now was the Thatcherite Neo liberal period. Two very different ways to run a country. The UK is always changing.

Is the USAs 5 billion dollar aircraft carrier and nuclear submarine something to do with it?
