@laurencedavey3121 The issue isn't that capitalism doesn't work, the issue is a few greedy people manage to get control of all the money and effectively size control of everything.

@laurencedavey3121 Read 1984, that is what happens what happens when their is no market mechanism indicating what people want!!

capitalism does not threaten democracy. Infact its the embodiment of democracy. Everyone time you buy something it is a vote for that product, it indicates to society what needs to be produced.
1
@laurencedavey3121 I am not. Money is an incentive for you do do something. With out it all you have is fear and threats. And that is what communism is.
1
@laurencedavey3121 the minority rich need the poor to buy their products. If they make something no one wants they have no profits. If they make a newspaper no one agrees with, no one buys the newspaper. If a politian says something no one agrees with, he doesn't get voted in. That is democracy!!

@colincampbell4261 f someone didn't pay you, would you work for them for free? If a farmer didn't make profit, would he grow his crops?

@django3422 Exactly. Totalitarianism. When the state controls everything their is no mechanism to tell the markets what needs to be produced. That is what happened in communist Russia and exactly what George Orwell was describing in 1984!! It was a warning against communist regimes like Russia!!
1
@django3422 ...with out money. All you have left is fear. That's exactly what 1984 was about.

@django3422 have read George Orwell extensively. 1984 wasn't a look into a dytstopian future. Everything he wrote about happened. The gulags, child informants, a single party state. And if you have any understanding of any 20th century communist Russian history the parallels between the book and reality are uncanny.
1
@django3422 he wasn't writing a work of fiction, he was writing about what he saw
1
@django3422 It wasn't a cautionary tale. It happened in 20th century Europe. If you think that you have no understanding of European history.
1
@django3422 The random v2 bombs in the book happened. His house was hit by one. The world did divide into 3 super powers happened. America, Russia and China. The mass purges, gulags, single party state, child informants. This wasn't fiction, this all happened. But it is very difficult to comprehend what happened to Europe in the early 20th century. It litterly burned it self to the ground. But what he predicted didn't quite come to pass, America won ww2. We in the west remained by in larger free.

@django3422 read into early 20th century Europe history (East and west) It is absolutely terrifying. George Orwell was effectively writing about what he saw.
1
@django3422 where and when? The Russian revolution? mass purges? Starvation? The Bolsheviks (single party state) the gulags (concentration camp for politicalprisoners)? Hitler, Franco? The whole of Europe was consumed by authoritian regimes and post ww2 the chance of atomic war!!
1
@django3422 This is all common knowledge!
1
@django3422 Stalin? Hitler? What am I making up?
1
@django3422 no, I brought up early 20th century European governments. Read back through your messages. You never mentioned it once.
1
@django3422 I'm saying a majority of the terrible things he wrote about happened in some form or another and the power blocks the world currently operates in very much came to pass.
1
@django3422 stand by my point you haven't mentioned early 20th European history once. It was nice to give you a history lesson.
