@janeslater8004 For a proportion of the post-war period, London was a dump. Most of the east end moved to Essex, all the work disappeared after the empire went. It was only from the 1980s onwards when Thatcher brought financial services and money back to the city did things improve again.

@andrewrobinson2565 This huge change in demographics has only really happened in the last 20 years. Its not a long period of time.
1
@andrewrobinson2565 This debate is ridiculous. The idea that every single person shares the same culture is completely wrong, because they dont. And their are 7 billion people in the world, you cannot accommodate everyone without the country collapsing. London with England are pretty good. But take Ireland, they already have a cost of living crisis. Its more expensive to live than in the UK. Mass migration and extra competition for scarce resources is making it worse.
1
@petemarchetto4998 How exactly is the rental market and tent cities working out for the Irish then?
1
@petemarchetto4998 The idea of equality and diversity. Is old soviet ideology. It is complete nonsense, and it doesn't work. We won the Cold War, and somehow, this stupidity has spread everywhere. Spreading far left marxist nonsense is not what I pay my taxes for.

@petemarchetto4998 The English are generally a peaceful excepting bunch. Are the people we bring in the same? Talking to them is like stepping back to the early 1900s. Their opinions on class and race is often shocking.
1
@petemarchetto4998 Allowing mass migration and presuming everyone is lovely and friendly IS ridiculously naive. In fact, it is dangerous.
1
@petemarchetto4998 ...You saw it with BLM. You see within muslim communities. They dont want to be associated with England, they want their own country and identity.
1
@petemarchetto4998 Culturally, we are not even the same as the EU. Which what you dont understand. And looking at the UK now, we have some very local minorities that what their own law systems and effectively own countries within England.
1
@petemarchetto4998 Do you have eyes? Behaviour differs massively from country to country!!!
1
@petemarchetto4998 "Any one able to use their eyes knows behaviour differs enormously from country to country" George Orwell, the lion and the unicorn. George Orwell, who political essay and ideas lay the foundations for the welfare state after the war in England.
1
@petemarchetto4998 no, our is country is free. If you import millions of people from toltaltian regimes. You import the same ideas. And ideas spread.
1
@petemarchetto4998 You don't destroy a nation and make it ungovernable for empathic reasons. That's sounds very Stalinist. That is not common sense.
1
@petemarchetto4998 If national identity does not matter what exactly are the people in Ukraine or even Isreal fighting for? Because to them it matters.
1
@petemarchetto4998 I can imagine countries like Russia and Iran love people you. Because you're a general liability!!!
1
@petemarchetto4998 Words and opinions are not violence. Violence is violence. When you see what is going on in places like the Middle East. genuinely I get concerned. Being slightly hesitate of a stranger is common sense. You learn it in primary school.
1
@petemarchetto4998 Back to my point. Being hesitant of a stranger is basic human survival. It is taught is primary school.
1
@petemarchetto4998 No, it is not something your supposed to unlearn. You are asking me to go against my basic human instincts. Which to be quite honest, is very sinister.
1
@petemarchetto4998 a mistrust of a person who i have never met and certainly hasn't earned it, is not racist. It is sensible. Which is exactly what we are dealing with.
