  1. I learned so much with this video. I've own the same Accord for 11 years now and I'm aware of every single issue with the engine that you mentioned. I have no intention to ever tear down my engine for any reason but this video helped me understand my car's engine so much better. I hope one day I can develop the knowledge and nerves to do an engine swap or rebuild. Thank you so much!!

  9. I have an '08 with 150k miles and owned since it had 25k miles. The car has been great and I was thinking about buying a newer car but then decided to spend money on maintenance this year to keep the car going another few years. I also bought a lot of new tools to work on everything from suspension to engine parts. I still have a couple of DIY projects to do but if the car last me at least another 3-5 years with minimal maintenance I would be very happy while I continue to save for a new car. I haven't decided if I want another Accord or something nicer like an Acura.

  10. Yep! I'm amazed how many people don't care then break their chrome sockets. I buy tools for life and I would be furious if one of my sockets broke especially due to negligence. It sucks having to buy all those sockets but at least I always have spare sizes and I'm a lot less likely to break one.

  11. You can drill a small hole in the broken bolt stuck in the engine block and use an extractor to remove it - see Amazon. However, depending which bolt you're drilling there is always the risk of dropping debris inside the engine causing more problems.

  12.  @shermantank4516  . Sounds to me like you're trying really hard to justify your existence. Some mistakes were made in the video but were also addressed. If anything, the job was rushed instead of getting all the required tools first. Also, this was a rusted Honda. You act like you built the car with your bare hands and know more than anyone else could possibly know before doing simple jobs like replacing a ball joint. If you were so smart you would have gotten a college degree and became an engineer. That said, A) you're completely wrong and B) kindly fuck off with your overinflated ego.

  16. Honda is not what its used to be. I've been a Honda customer for 20 years. But it seems that these new vehicles are nothing more than compliance vehicles. I looked at 2023 Accords and CRVs and they leave a lot to be desired. These new models have weak 1.5 L turbo engines which are known for oil dilution, CVT transmissions which need to be babied and will probably fall apart quicker than a regular transmission, and to make matters worse, CRVs are a top choice for catalytic converter thieves. That's in addition to the other shortcuts Honda took in building these newer vehicles. A big pass for me. Good bye Honda! Thanks for the mechanical review!!

  20. Great video man! Unfortunately, I was stranded once because my car's alternator went out on me. I replaced it myself but being stranded is a real hassle. I recently bought a multi-meter so I can periodically test my alternator the way you showed here. I'm hoping that in the future I can detect the problem before I get stranded. I also have a carbon pile tester and a jump starter for my battery. I hope I don't get stranded again.

  35. Happened to me once replacing the starter on my Accord. I was furious but there was nothing to be done. I had the car towed to a shop and I let them handle it.

  36.  @speedkar99  . Yes I know. But my car has been paid off for about 5 years and I drive very little - maybe 5k miles per year. I just need the car to hang on another 10-20k miles while I continue saving. The way I see it a new car is going to cost me $400+ per month which is roughly $5k per year. As long as my maintenance expenses are well below that threshold I still come out ahead. I've had a good run in this car (owned it since 2009 at 25k miles).

  43. I had to replace the damn thing twice already in my Honda. Honda's has their set of problems but if you're familiar with the issues and take good care of the vehicle it will last a very long time.
