I think both Fischer and Kasparov have claims to the GOAT. Kasparov for longevity and Fischer for peak.

That's the way it should be. But many people love to project intelligence by regurgitating meaningless stats, surveys, and opinions about learning instead of focusing on the actual learning. For myself, I try to be regimented in everything I do but in the end I always do things my way and it works for me whether its studying chess or for college.

@ETBrooD . You can't explain simple things to common people. They're stuck in their misconceptions and will argue to the death.

@maxkho00 . Half a year is hardly ages. At 2400 you're better than 99% of active players. Not a bad spot to be in. Personally, I want to reach 2400 but attaining a title is more important than my online rating. Anyway, good luck!

As an expert level chess player who loves everything about chess I found this interview pretty cool. Maybe a bit longer than it needed to be but it was nice that many topics were discussed.

@luke31ish . 2237 peak here. Hoping for 2400 soon. I'm still a patzer. lol

@dannygjk . We meet again. But you right on this one.

@maxkho00 . Morphy, Lasker, Capablanca, Tal, Fischer, Kasparov and many others learned chess without engine analysis. Also, I've been tracking chess prodigies for some time now. The only ones that improve from 0 to 2000+ OTB in two years are the ones that started playing elsewhere (before the rated period) and have resources not available to others. Two of the US top chess prodigies Sam Sevian and Carissa Yip took about 3 years each to reach 2000+ USCF ratings which are usually about 100 points lower than FIDE. Again, these are two of the top prodigies in US history. But whatever, good luck with your chess!

@maxkho00 . I went from 1000 to 1800 in six months. Again, its meaningless as I already knew how to play chess long before I played my first OTB game. Anyway, good luck on the next Candidates cycle! I'm sure we'll be seeing you at the world championship match after that.

Interesting! Never heard of Magnus' being compared to a mix of Fischer and Karpov. Awesome interview! Thanks!!

Hello everyone!
1
@vibovitold . What makes you think Fischer didn't dominate chess as long as Carlsen has as of this interview? FIDE Elo ratings weren't introduced until about 1970. Fischer peaked in 1972 but had been widely considered the #1 player in the world for the previous ten years before his world championship match.

I love that! Never heard that comparison!
1
@dannygjk . hmm
1
Its true. But then Fischer had a rating gap of more than 100 points from the world's number #2. Imagine Magnus was rated 2900+ right now. Let that sink in.

Can you stop begging for likes?
1
@maxkho00 . Magnus Carlsen himself would be jealous of your improvement rate.
1
@maxkho00 . Keep thinking that you're better or as good as some of the world's top prodigies including the world champion himself. Nothing sadder than an inflated ego trying to circumvent reality.

welcome aboard!
