I'm sorry, but I grew up in Puerto Rico in the 80s, decades before the woke movement, and my experience has been that racism is not nearly as bad in Latin America as it is in the USA where I live now. Yes, racism is everywhere but it seems disingenuous to me to characterized Latin American people are racists in the same way as the USA. When I lived in PR I never saw anything that resembled racism and much less experienced any. As soon as I moved to the USA, 16 ears old, it was clear that people went out of their way to stay with people of similar ethnic background. Racism needs to be eradicated wherever it is but to this day I find Latin Americans much more welcoming to blacks and foreigners of all types than Americans.
