If you're college educated used to making $80k-$100k per year you'd be doing society a disservice going into food service making a fraction of what you could make in a much higher value-add job. Not to mention, if you tie yourself down to a minimum pay job then you're spending less time looking for a job that better fits your skills.

  9. That's exactly why I prefer to watch only pure news and/or educational channels with no narrative. Anytime, we rely on someone else to describe the news we run the risk of receiving false, incorrect, or biased information. Sadly, most people want packaged news because it removes critical thinking from the process of absorbing information.

  11. You missed the point. This video isn't glorifying native populations. The video just makes the point that people coexisted in pre-colonial Philippines. We can go in circles about native populations when discussing the history of any nation and unless that's the focus on the topic it leads nowhere.

  13.  @thankyou4328  . I'm looking to pivot into data analytics/data science. I keep hearing old timers say that a college degree isn't necessary but my intuition says otherwise. I'm going to do things my way and get an MS. But its annoying hearing the many old timers who got in twenty plus years ago (when degrees didn't matter) trying to apply their outdated career experience to today's job market. Then, they try to convince me that coding skills aren't necessary anymore because of ChatGPT. Talk about a dense bunch!

  16.  @CLOUDKID11  . There mere fact that congress members have insider information means that they can influence the market as shown in the video. When Pelosi makes a trade people follow suit and the stock price moves. This lends itself to price manipulation in addition to insider trading.

  21. Yep. Many things left out. A key fact he left out was the US law making the display of the Puerto Rican flag illegal in the island. I'm glad that he covered the assassination attempt in the United States Capitol building because it shows just how far Puerto Ricans were willing to go to gain independence.

  25.  @Jeff-r3g6v  . Sugar plantations haven't been a significant part of the Puerto Rican economy for almost 100 years. Slavery was abolished in the 1800s in Puerto Rico. Your "older family members" must be at least 100 years old to have worked in sugar plantations in PR.

  27.  @makisekurisu4674  . That channel makes a lot of errors too. I started watching it a while back and stopped because without being a subject matter expert I would not know fact from fiction. I have a degree in finance and have been working in asset management for some years now. I know for a fact economics explained is riddled with errors. Check the comment section on one of their recent reports of Turkey's inflation problem.

  39. Same. Most of us take American history per academia at face value. Then we learn about the Philippines, "black wall street", the coup in Wilmington, North Carolina, etc..., and its easy to see why many people around the world, Americans included, see us as hypocrites. Right now, the story is re-enforced as Russia invades Ukraine and gets sanctioned to oblivion while the USA in particular got away with doing the same for the past 100 years.

No wars have been fought on US soil since Pearl Harbor and before that since the civil war. Explain to me why Americans are on the hook for an additional $14 trillion while a few get wealthy beyond belief?
