  1. advantage of PHEV is indeed versatility. you have a battery that is designed to just meet or exceed you normal daily driving needs. you get the most gas savings amd emissions reduction for each kWh of battery (alrhough regular hybrid are also very good at saving gas and emissions with a very small battery). good phevs get a decent ev type acceleration in pure ev mode. then when you need to drive 10-20x more on a day, gas lets you do it seamlessly. you are not careying that huge battery. yes a gas motor/transmission plus a ~15 kWh does weigh almost as much as an average range ev motor plus batteries, but you can make 4-5 phevs worth of batteries with one ev. pure EV is great if lets say you drive 50-150 miles every day amd you never drive 500miles, like school/passenger bus, garbage truck, dwlivery vans etc you can leverage a battery thats is used everyday, save a lot on regen, idling, low speed driving in rwsidential or city streets with lot of stops and traffic lights.

  2. kist saying, the nevera top speed is 256mph vs speedtail 250mph. the single speed gearbox(es) is always a compronise beetween too speed a low speed torque but its still extremely good at both. I rhink rhe future of zlectric supercar/hypercar is not very long range loke tesla roadster that is going to be heavy AF, but lightweight, SMALL capacity battery that is still avle to output full power without rhermal throttling
