@lucysmith4242 Yeah actually mu doesnt even exist :-) its just an approximation that works pretty well within certain conditions. like drag coefficient that actually changes with speed, it's convenient but not exact. but works really well though if you need do do simulations Basically for every combination of wheel torque/weight/weight distribution/road surface/rubber compound/temperature. there is an approximate "optimal" contact patch size that will have close to the optimal mu, while keeping the wheel weight, and friction loss as low as possible. narrower tires will overload the tires, reduce mu and grip. wider will gain little grip which will be negated by those factors. but if you change the conditions (water/snow/ice) the narrower tire could be better more weight, more power, more downforce, will all require more rubber and/or better compound for instance putting super wide tires on a civic is no going to make it any faster :-D maybe brake a little bit shorter
