haha you can embarrass a lot of drivers with it, whether it's big trucks / SUVs . I played a bit with a model S plaid in town (first Tesla ever that I could trigger for some action š), got ahead in the traffic. not saying performance is comparable of course but in real life when you need to squeeze in small gaps the size helps a lot. if you add the time to find a. parking slot the the 500e is WAY ahead š

Ā @kylemannmixĀ not only is it a fantastic car to drive, it was also leased $99 a month which was a pretty good deal. it also allowed people like me outside CA to get them on the cheap after 3 years lease are over, and low mileage (got it for 8k /25k miles). they have a liquid cooled battery that doesn't die prematurely like the leaf, you can fit 4 fit and agile adults in it if you really need , and the only time I had two adults in the back, they happened to own a mini Cooper and told me the back seats in the mini are not any larger despite the car being 10 inch longer. you can also load a good amount of stuff through the hatch with the seats down. so all in all if you already have one gas car, it's a pretty good second family car /commuter/get around town. you save time finding parking spot, money driving on electric, and it's quite zippy to dodge big ass trucks trying to crush you. by the the time traffic ligh goes green you're already far ahead. Also, it's funny that the 500e gets an F for not being practical and the S cars are mustang gt350 and viper...

it's a good small car but better of the highway. I mean it will do short stretches ok, up to 85mph, but as you said the already short range will suffer and with no fast charging you better get home with some charge left, or have destination charging

Ā @axelh245Ā not the first gen 500e based on the gas 500 and built only in mexico. the new 500 electric sold in europe is a new 100% electric platform, but not sold in north america because fiat is withdrawing from the market and selling 500X as their only model at the moment

nice car (I daily drive own š) but beware of very low mile cars that are several years old. if they were stored at around 50% no problem but if they spent a lot of time at 0% or 100% it's not good for the battery. with some cheap OBD2 BT scanner you can check the number of hours spent in each 10% bracket. a car that was almost never driven is much more likely to have been stored for long intervals at too low or too high SoC

Ā @DOJIELDIENVEĀ same for me. not only is it quicker than lot of gas car from 0-60, you can hammer it right after a cold start, so it is good for short trips. you usually only need less than half throttle to smoke most lazy automatics.

now the good news is the new electric 500 will get an Abarth version "The good news is that we are actively working on it, and once itās confirmed, it will be relatively quick The bad news is that itās more complicated to deliver than I thought. If you want to do a real Abarth, itās not the same electric powertrain. Once it has the power and torque you want, itās no longer the same drivetrain, nor the same transmission or brakes⦠The whole thing has to be adapted " Good thing they are doing it properly, and not rushing just a 500 electric with more power. with better handling/traction/power/brakes it's going to be a proper hot hatch. hopefully AWD with some options for rear bias

Ā @Proxyyy825Ā yes so basically instead of selling it at 32k msrp they got 7.5k from the downpayment + lease + california incentive over 3 years. then they had to sell the car used for around 8k...the lease was a good deal but buying it used was an even better one šadn fiat lost a lot of money. the new one starts at the equivalent of 22.6k usd before tax in europe. with 7.5k tax credit, that's cheaper than the gas 500 used to sell for.
