  1. smart is also RWD rear-engine (fun to drive on the snow), with a downsized turbo three cylinders (pretty forward thinking in 1997) with low gearing (85mph) a 6speed sequential transmission, decently quick at city speeds. it also had very little suspension so drove more like a go kart. it was actually good on gas 50+ mpg, and you could get it as a convertible and/or brabus version. good for european cities, it was just too expensive
